Abstract

This paper addresses the design and development results of an electric motor driven multi-purpose control valve for liquid rocket engine (LRE). The low-cost and low-weight space launch vehicle is essential in the new space era. The multi-purpose control valve has functions of not only flow control but also flow shut-off, thus the valve can be a substitute for a flow control valve and a shut-off valve. Therefore the multi-purpose valve would be greatly helpful for the reduction of the KSLV-III LRE weight and cost.

본 논문에서는 액체 로켓엔진에 사용할 수 있는, 전기모터로 구동되는 다목적 제어밸브의 설계 및 개발 결과를 소개하였다. New space 시대에서는 가볍고 발사 비용이 저렴한 발사체 개발이 핵심이다. 다목적 제어밸브는 유량 제어밸브와 개폐 밸브 기능을 모두 수행할 수 있어, 기존의 유량 제어밸브와 개폐 밸브를 하나의 밸브로 대체할 수 있으므로 차세대발사체의 엔진 무게 및 제작비용 절감에 큰 도움이 될 것이다.
